Dear Students,

Today  is the Oscar Academy Awards. Since you say the trailers for all the films which are nominated, have watched at least one and am sure are interested in the Oscars, here's your task for this week. It would be great if you did it before the Ceremony, but you can also do it afterwards.

You are going to watch this video from TIME magazine which gives predictions about the winners in some categories. Once you have watched it a couple of times, try to answer the questions below ORALLY.

1.-Who is the director of Amour?
2.- What is the documentary "Searching for Sugar Man" about?
3.- What have some US senator said about Zero Ground Thirty?
4.- What is Argo an adaptation from?
5.- Why does Time think that Anne Hathaway will win the Oscar for the Best Supporting Actress?
6.- What do the five contestants for Best Supporting Actor have in common?
7.- Why do they think that Christopher Waltz is the favourite for Best Supporting Actor?
8.- Is this the first nomination for Jennifer Lawrence? Which was the previous one and when?
9.- Who does Time think will win the Oscar for Best Actor?
10.- Make a poll and say who you think will win in the next categories:

  • Best Picture
  • Best Directing
  • Best Actor in a leading role
  • Best Actress in a leading role
  • Best Actor in a supporting role
  • Best Actress in a supporting role
  • Best Animated Feature Film
  • Best Foreign Language Film
  • Best Original Song

You can see the nominees at www.oscar.com If you do your homework after Sunday, say who won these categories and who you would have liked to win. Relax, this is your last homework this term. Javier
