Here is the task you have to do for the long weekend.
You have to go to this site, choose one of the stories and listen to it at least a couple of times WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE SCRIPT. Then, you can listen to it again with the script to understand it better. Your task is to record a summary of the story IN YOUR OWN WORDS and in less than two minutes. You can also say if you liked the story and if you found it easy or difficult to understand.
I really hope this second voicethread is easier for you than the first one. If you can't manage with voicethread, you can also record your voice with "audacity" or "grabadora de sonido de Windows" and sent it to me to javiprofeingles@hotmail.com, mentioning who you are on the mail.
Try to change your icon/avatar in voicethread and use a picture or something more personal and original.

APLE COMPUTER ROOM LESSON OCTOBER 24TH
20 minutes: One of your students will carry out his oral presentation.
10 minutes: Do you believe in magic? Let's see if Akinator can guess the name of the famous person you have thought of. Think of a famous person, answer the questions and that's it.
20 minutes: Some people in the class love music (and love telling us all about it every single day!!). Let's see how good you are at lyrics.
We are going to listen to songs and fill in the blanks of the lyrics. Go here, create a new account (on the right, above the picture and under sign in), choose a song (easy or medium level to start with), choose a mode (you can start with elementary and then try something more challenging). Then, listen to the song and try to fill in the blanks.
Write your comments here about the activity. Say which songs you worked on and what was your score. Was it too easy/difficult? Don't forget to include your name in the comment.

We are going to play a game of Trivial one of these days, so I think it would be interesting if you wrote some questions and answers for the game. Apart from English, there are 4 other categories:
1.- History and Geography
2.- Cinema and Sports
3.- Art and literature
4.- Science

APLE HOMEWORK 3/10. Deadline October 13th
Dear Students,
As you know for sure, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Aple, died last week. We are going to talk about him and watch some videos on Monday in the computer room, but for the moment this is a bit about him.
Here is the first "Think Different" Apple commercial that never aired, narrated by Steve Jobs: "Here's to the Crazy Ones". What makes great people great?
I want you to try to do three things:
a)identify the 17 famous people who appear in the video.
b)write the script of the commercial (you will have to watch it several times).
c)choose the character who matches your number in the class (if you are not sure about your number, ask me on Monday) and prepare a speech for Tuesday saying why you think that person was crazy and thought in a different way.

Hello again, students,
Today we are going to work with three different activities.
-In the first part of the class, we are going to watch the video about the girl which we couldn't watch last week.
-Then you are going to work with Burlington Speech Trainer. You should have an icon on your desktop with that name. You have to write your real name, some details, choose any book and try to do unit one.
-Finally, if we still have time, we are going to make two more listenings from here. The titles A healthy lifestyle (medium) and 72 hour emergency kit. The same as the other day, you have to do at least section II.
I hope you enjoy today's lesson.

Say your opinions and your first feelings about the new series we started watching yesterday (Desperate Housewives). Say why you think Mary Alice killed herself. For this activity, you will have to use your brand new microphone and subscribe in voicethread. Don't forget to say who you are. You have to click on comment, then on record, write your real name, give an email address and a password (write it down on a paper or in your mobile phone in order not to forget it), then allow your computer to access and then start recording your voice. When you finish, just press on stop recording. You don't need to talk more than 2 or 3 minutes. If you like what you have said, save the comment, otherwise, start again until you are happy with the result. Good luck. I hope you don't have too many technical problems.

APLE COMPUTER ROOM SEPTEMBER 26TH

I hope you enjoy your first lesson this year in the computer room. The Internet connection is not very good, so please, be patient. At home you can do things much faster, so if you can't finish or do an activity here, you can try to do it at home.
20 minutes: go to this page and listen to: answering machine (easy) , A student credit card (medium) and Adsense: making money (difficult). You should at least do the "II Listening Exercises". You can also try to do the "III Vocabulary activities", but this is optional. When you finish, write a comment here mentioning your name and your final score in each of the listenings.
15 minutes: go to this page, register if necessary and do the dictation activity. If your English is really good, you can try to do the full mode. If your English is not that good, try the easier blank mode.
15 minutes: go to the video section on the right hand side of the blog and watch the video called "demolition call". If you can't find it in the blog, you can click here. Listen to the girl and try to answer these questions about it. In the.last 5 minutes of the lesson, we'll check for the answers. Your task for this weekend is quite simple. You have to spend AT LEAST ONE HOUR practising your oral English. Then, you have to make a recording saying what you have done and how (if you have watched a film, mention the film, if you like it, if you watched it with subtitles or not, when you watched it, etc).
You can record your voice with audacity or you can use the Grabadora de Sonido de Windows (inicio>programas>accesorios>grabadora de sonidos). Don't forget to say who you are in your recording.
Enjoy your weekend and try to practise your oral English at least 15 minutes every day.

WELCOME TO APLE, STUDENTS
Dear students,
This is my first post this year. First of all, I wanted to welcome you all aboard this trip. Remember you are the most important part on it. I will try to do my best, but if you don't work hard, all my efforts will be useless.
Since education and the strikes are a current issue, here are two interesting videos in English about the topic.
The first one is from the prestigious Wall Street Journal. There is an article in there, but there is also this video. If you are also interested in reading the article, you can do it here.
The second video is a speech by the famous American actor Matt Damon in favour of teachers and public education. Watch the video and answer the questions about it in pairs.
1.- How many children did Matt Damon's mother have?
2.- Why is Matt Damon bald now?
3.- How did Matt get in there?
4.- Which positive things for his life did Matt learn at home and at school?
5.- Is Matt in favour of standard tests? Why/Why not?
