You might think that slavery is something that happened in the United States in the 19th. century, but I want you to listen to this news from November 2013. It is very short, so you can listen to it many times. If you prefer to listen to it with an American accent, you can do it here.
Once you have listened to the story, at least once, listen again and answe these questions about it.
1. | In which part of London were the women held captive? |
2. | How old are the suspected captors? |
3. | Who did one of the captive women alert? |
4. | What are the captives' nationalities? |
5. | Who is thought to have been born a captive? |
6. | In what mental state did police describe the women as being? |
7. | What did the women have no real exposure to for 30 years? |
8. | What did the police say would take some time to do? |
9. | Whom did the charity say we often do not know? |
10. | How did the charity describe the London street? |
A) You must READ the question aloud and then ANSWER it ORALLY and then send it to me in a voice file.
B) Read this article about it in The Guardian and send me an audio file with any other relevant information about the news.
If you have any questions about it, you can ask me on Monday at school.
