APLE COMPUTER ROOM LESSON FEBRUARY 21st
Hi Students,
I hope you have improved your glogs during the weekend.
Today we are going to do an activity regarding films. I don't know if the Internet connection and our technical problems will spoil the activity. I ask you to be patient because if it works, it may be a very funny lesson.
For this activity you need to work in pairs. 1&2, 3&4, etc.
This is the activity we are going to do. We are visiting this page:
You have to choose one clip from a Bollywood film. My suggestions are number 3, number 4, number 8 or number 2 (new). The first thing you have to do is to watch the clip several times. Then, it is the time to write your script for the clip and to divide the characters. If it is a woman and you are a man, you will have to make a woman's voice and so on. Once everything is clear, it is time to dub the clip.
On the top right hand corner, choose "microphone" and when everybody is ready, click on "record". Remember you will all be using the same microphone, so hold in in your hands.
When you finish recording, click on stop, listen to the clip with your audio and if you are happy with it, fill in the information at the bottom. Give the clip a title, write your names, your email address, my email address (javiprofeingles@hotmail.com) and click on "send".
Cross your fingers with our Internet connections.
Have fun

SAINT VALENTINE'S LESSON
Hi students,
Today is Saint Valentine's Day. You may like it or not. You may be in love or not. Anyway, it is a day to celebrate love.
Let's start with a video about the history of Saint Valentine's Day:
Let's see if you can make a rhyme for your beloved one.
Try the easy rhymes first, and then the hard ones:
You can also use music. Here is the famous "Love is all around", from the Original Soundtrack of the comedy "Four Weddings and a Funeral".
Now that you know a lot about Saint Valentine's Day, you can either play this vocabulary game or do this quiz.
Enjoy the day.

APLE COMPUTER LESSON February 11th
Hi students,
Today I'm sick at home (I think it's flu), so I won't be able to stay with you in the classroom. Joann will be in the classroom next door and will keep an eye on you from time to time.
Depending on what you have already done, there are 4 things you can do. For some of them, you will need your headphones. Get the number that corresponds to the number you have in your computer.
-Option 1: If you didn't do your voicethread about discrimination yesterday, you can still do it in the class now. Remember it is on this blog.
-Option 2: If you haven't finished your glog yet, you can also work on it, finding the picture, looking at ways to describe the picture or just recording the description and the reason to choose that picture.
-Option 3. If you have been a good student and have done the two previous options, you can play this game. It is a memory game, but with sounds instead of letters or images. It looks easy, but it is not that simple.
You can play game 1 and game 4.

-Options 5: Finally, if you want to have some fun. You can watch some videos with jokes. To do it click here.
On Monday we'll have a regular class, so bring your books and not your headphones.
Have a nice weekend.

APLE COMPUTER LESSON FEBRUARY 7TH
The time for glogster has come.
I suggest you read about it, watch some videos or presentations about it and then start playing with it with your nick and password.
The deadline to have a first draft of your glog is Monday 14th. Then, I will write some comments and suggestions about it and you have an extra week (until Monday 21st) to create your final version. The topic for your glogs is going to be "A photograph". The first thing you have to do is go to this site:
Here, at the bottom of the page, you can see some examples of Glogs. Have a look at some of them by clicking on the image.
The first you will have to do is log in with this information:
Then, you must edit your profile and write at least your real name.
Now it is the time to change the password to a one you will always remember (write it down somewhere in your diary if you think you might forget).
It is the time to go to the "What is Glogster EDU" Section that you will find at the top of the page. Once you have finished and understand everything, there comes the final stage, "to create a glog". This option is in pink at the top right hand corner of the screen.
Now it comes the time to play with your new glog adding a wall, text, sound, images or even video. Just see how it works.
If you have any problems, just raise your hand and I will try to help you.
Good luck.

A CLASS DIVIDED
Dear students,
This week we are going to deal with the idea of prejudice, discrimination and racism. For that purpose we are going to do some research, watch some videos and then discuss about the topic.
The videos we are going to watch deal with black discrimination in the United States in 1970s. Therefore, the first we'll have to do will be to do some research about that time and that place.
Before watching the videos
We are going to make three teams. The first two rows on the left will be team 1, the last two rows on the left will be team 2 and all the rows on the left will be team 3.
TASKS FOR TEAM NUMBER 1 (Martin Luther King).
Look on the Internet (in English) for information about Martin Luther King and find the answers to these five questions:
1.- Who was Martin Luther King and why did he become famous?
2.- What is "I have a dream"?
3.- What achievement did MLK achieve in 1964?
4.- When and how did MLK die?
5.- What is Martin Luther King Day?
TASKS FOR TEAM NUMBER 2 (Civil Rights Movement).
1.- What was the Civil Rights Movement in US in the 1960s-70s?
2.- What were their demands?
3.- Who were their leaders?
4.- What was their way to protest?
5.- When did this movement end?
TASKS FOR TEAM NUMBER 3 (Census Report)
1.- What was the percentage of immigrants in the US in 1970?
2.- What is the percentage of immigrants at the moment? How many people are that?
3.- What was the percentage of immigrants in Spain in 1980?
4.- What is the percentage of immigrants at the moment? How many people are that?
5.- What 3 nationalities compose the most important part of immigrants in the US and in Spain? Are they the same?

Hello students,
Your homework this week has two parts.
- The first is quite easy to understand. You have to do 2400 extra points in English Central. I have created a channel with the videos I recommend, but you can watch the ones you prefer.
